We are delighted to award a grant to a remarkable local charity that supports those living with neuromuscular conditions.
The Neuromuscular Centre (NMC) in Winsford helps people living with conditions that affect the muscles lead a healthy, productive and fulfilling life. The outstanding place is one of a kind in The North West, assisting people with the conditions in various ways, such as providing physiotherapy, training courses, activities and job opportunities in their print and design workshop.
NMC applied to our grant scheme for £1,831 which, together with previous donations totalling £1,590, would mean they could purchase a riser chair. This is a unique office chair that enables people who have limited core mobility to sit and stand independently.
Currently, half of NMC’s staff and volunteers have a neuromuscular condition and they require adaptations to enable them to participate in their desk based activities, including needing equipment like this specialised office chair. The chair is multi-purpose and will also help those in NMC’s gym access exercise machines safely and unaided, helping to maintain their dignity and also help to reduce injury.
We were delighted to be able to support this funding application as it will promote independence and allows people to comfortably work with dignity and more efficiency. We strive to help those affected by poverty or disadvantage and are pleased to have the opportunity to improve the lives of those affected by neuromuscular conditions.
