Nourish to Flourish

We recently awarded Nourish to Flourish £6,000 and are delighted with the impact made so far from it!

The Incredible Edible Art Project enhances children’s knowledge of food nutrition learning about its’ impact on physical health and wellbeing through engaging and interactive workshops.

The funding contributes to 6 hours of immersive food workshops in 5 local primary schools over the course of 1 academic year. The children enjoy a hands-on experience creating food art with a diverse range of ingredients, whilst learning about the importance of nutrition.

Half-way through the funding, 240 children have benefitted from 3 hours of immersive, edible and educational fun! With exposure to 38 difference foods, the pupils have found new tastes for healthy items such as pomegranates, hummus, spinach, courgetti and pumpkin seeds.

Each 1-hour session has a separate theme, which so far has included ‘Under the sea’ and ‘Winter animals’, teaching how the food we eat directly impacts emotions and mental health. The children have all been given wipeable charts to help them track their foods their ‘tummy pet’ wants them to eat.

The funding to Nourish to Flourish will inspire and educate primary school children to have the confidence to try new foods, build healthy eating habits and understand the importance of food in their overall health, knowledge that they will carry throughout their whole life.
