Supporting the community to bring both hope and change is at the heart of what we do.

In addition to our grant programme and almshouses, our aim is to ensure that The Bluecoat building itself plays a vital role in supporting the community. In 2015, our historic Grade II listed building was beautifully restored, marking the beginning of its’ journey as a hub for charities and voluntary groups. We began by offering affordable office spaces, and soon expanded to include accessible meeting rooms for both internal and external organisations. You can book your next meeting or event at The Bluecoat here.
The Bluecoat regularly hosts a variety of events including training seminars, workshops and meetings that are run either by our team or the other organisations in the building. You can read more about our training and events here.
In 2024, The Bluecoat welcomed Calm Coffee CIC. Calm Coffee provides a safe space for anyone who needs it. It welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds to come in, have a chat over a drink and find out about the support they offer that might help them either on a 1-2-1 or a group basis.
