Tackling social isolation

It was our pleasure to recently meet the dedicated volunteers the volunteer coordinator at Here and Now as they celebrated their 11th birthday.

Here and Now is a Blacon-based group that tackles social isolation through a wide range of shared activities, including Digital Buddies, gentle exercise classes, social groups and a community choir. The organisation also builds intergenerational connections, working closely with local primary schools through to nursing homes to bring people of all ages together.

By creating opportunities for people to connect and participate in their community, Here and Now helps improve wellbeing, reduce loneliness and depression, and support better physical health.

We are proud to have recently awarded Here and Now a grant of £5,000 to support room hire costs for the next 12 months, helping them continue to deliver these valuable activities and make a positive difference in the lives of deserving local people.
